I often don’t do things just for me. I suppose that’s not completely true, I swap ATC’s because I enjoy it, I am doing an art journal swap that I enjoy but I rarely make things to keep so I can look and enjoy my own work. This is the first page in my very own art journal, my first one.
It is small and I LOVE it. I bought a small travel journal at a thrift store and I thought it would make a great art journal. It’s 5 1/2 by 2 3/4 inches.
Also I just bought a couple of spray inks/paints and they are so much fun!!
Sorry about the flash in the photo, the flash pic shows the colors best so I kept it.
I work with people struggling with their mental health and recently we talked about how when we wake up the next day we can often feel rejuvenated and have a fresh start. This project is my statement of that sentiment.
General list of supplies used:
bead from a lone earring
tiny piece of black ribbon
tiny ribbon flower
red plastic bag from onions
scraps of paper
embossing powder, embossing ink and heat gun
A work in progress, not quite finished but close. Had a wonderful weekend and was excited to express it!
I have always loved mermaids. The kids I work with always ask about “if you could have a superpower what would it be?” When I was a kid I always dreamed of being a mermaid.
July 2013. Victoria is my art-pal, she lives in Russia. She invited me to join an art journal swap. There are five of us participating. Two ladies in Russia, one in Poland, One in the UK and me, here in the USA. I have my journal and Victoria’s sent on their way, waiting, excitedly for my next one!
This is a close up of one page from an art journal swap. This spread was focused on memories and feelings about my Mom. This photo is her on her wedding day, I think it may be the only shot we have.
